This code corresponds to the motor's thermo-magnetic protection. Does anyone know what this means? If it happens during the wash, it still completes the cycle (unless it happens five times during the cycle). During the spin cycle, the machine drains but doesn't spin, and the program ends. Does anyone have any idea how to understand this? If it happens five times in a row during the cycle, it will display error code E9. I hope that's clear enough?
Hello,
The message MOT followed by E9 can correspond to repeated activations of the motor's thermal protection, but this does not automatically mean that the motor needs to be replaced.
I would first check the motor's ventilation, the condition and tension of the belts, that the drum is completely drained before the spin cycle, and that the motor and speed sensor connections are secure. A drum still containing too much water or a mechanically stiff drive can cause an abnormal increase in current. On a three-phase power supply or a machine equipped with a variable frequency drive (VFD), you should also compare the phase currents and check the insulation with the appropriate device.
It is crucial not to bypass the thermal protection permanently. Here is also a general index for comparing washing machine error codes: https://www.errasift.com/washing-machine-error-codes/
For transparency, Errasift is my own website. I would also like to clarify that this is a general guide: the IPSO technical documentation for the specific model remains the primary source.
